VPN TIPS AND TRICKS
Oracle Java is required to install Junos Pulse from the VPN home
webpage. Here's a link that checks if it's installed and enabled in
your browser: Is my Java working? If you don't see confirmation in your browser from <!-- more -->the preceding link that Java is installed, then install it from here Java download and try testing it again.
If running Apple OS X:
64-bit Chrome was released for OS X in November 2014 in Version 39, however Java support has been removed. Here is a temporary fix until Chrome Version 45 that allows 64-bit Java to run: go to chrome://flags/#enable-npapi, Click the Enable link for Enable NPAPI, then Click the Relaunch button at the bottom.
If starting Junos Pulse from the VPN home webpage seems to be taking too long, look for hidden (behind) applet windows or disabled pop-ups.
The Linux full tunnel client Network Connect no longer requires Java be installed, see Linux instructions
The Mines Library no longer has a bookmark on the VPN home webpage, the library staff is directing their patrons to start a VPN full tunnel client (Junos Pulse or Network Connect depending on Operating System) first and then go directly to the Mines library website http://library.mines.edu/.
Issues that are resolved in the current production VPN release:
